We also asked “If your family take vitamins/supplements, what brands e.g. Seven Seas, Revive, Centrum, Aldi own brand etc. do you buy regularly and why? If you don’t take them, why not?” Comments from parents included:

“Our kids are small so I stick to the chewable versions. Not buying the same brand each time. I tend to wait and stock up when there is an offer eg 3 for 2. My main criteria is on composition as they can vary greatly from one brand to another.”

“Different brands, depending on price generally. Holland and Barrett, the health shop or Boots usually. 1 adult and 1 child take every day the others do as required.”

“Just don’t think we need them unless after an illness.”

“We take Vitamin D in the winter months (usually DLux), because my son was nearly deficient in it in the past.”

“I think there’s no need if the diet is good.”

“Own brand. Only if we need a boost during or after illness, cold weather.”

“Revive, Floradix, Lidl/Aldi own brand, Hariborange. These are the brands that we’ve tried and like them..”

“We all take different brands. Not due to any particular confidence or preference of a particular brand, just because they are the ones on sale or we like that size/shape of tablet.”

“Centrum is the main one we all take. I also take a post-menopausal one, usually Tesco own brand.

  • Use research or carry out taste tests with your target market as parents tell us they can find it difficult to get children to take vitamins and supplements because they don’t taste good.
  • When was the last time you talked to parents about your brand? We can help find out what they think about you and your competitors, so your communications and marketing can be on point this year.
