Any other thoughts on planning birthday parties or celebrations at home this year?Comments from our panel members included:

“With the past two years of not being able to do things with the kids, it’s trying now to find a balance to get them back out to socialise and do normal things again. Yes, COVID is still everywhere but we just have to be mindful of everyone.”

“Allowing my son his first party since 2019. 40 children from his class coming along with cousins and family friends. Bouncy castle and pizza delivery organised.”

“We will have 2 kids’ birthdays at home in the next month, but we will be using the garden as much as possible and will give people the option of staying outside if they wish.”

“Planning my daughter’s first holy communion. So looking forward to it as we haven’t had a family get together since COVID came.”

“I think we need to learn to live with COVID now. I’d be more aware of my surroundings and keep a distance from people but I wouldn’t rule out having a home party at all.”

“At home celebrations with family and friends will be a big part of our year this year. My daughter finds going to large venues overwhelming, especially after the isolation of COVID, so she has specifically asked to have her birthday celebration in our home where she feels comfortable and can show her friends her playroom and her toys.  Venues are easier for large numbers, but there is something more intimate and bonding about having friends to your home.”

“I’ve promised both of my children that they can have birthday parties at home this year and I’m so anxious already about what to do and what way to organise them.”
