What are your thoughts or concerns on holidaying in Ireland with kids? Comments from our panel members included:

“We have not booked a family holiday yet this year as we have kids doing exams. But we are hoping to get to the USA if we can. This will really depend on COVID restrictions and also the current crisis in Ukraine. Ireland can be very expensive and you are not guaranteed good weather.”

“We want to get away with the children this year as we have had 2 years now of holidays in Ireland. That said, we are planning some weekends away in Ireland to catch up with friends and family and celebrate some big birthdays! Also, my husband and I will go away with friends for some weekends too both together and independently.”

“We did it last year and we were very lucky with weather but I enjoy the guarantee of good weather on holidays for everyone’s mood especially. We had a wonderful holiday in Ireland last summer but it was quite expensive but love doing the occasional short stay maybe in the future but no plans for now.”

“The expense of everything in Ireland. It was always costly doing anything with the family but now with rising living costs, it will be so much worse.”

“Packing so much stuff to cater for all weather! Cost of accommodation for families. Eating out can be expensive.”

  • After several years at home due to the pandemic, many parents told us they are planning holidays abroad rather than at home this year. Look for opportunities to attract holiday makers to stay local. For example. communion season may offer an opportunity to promote packages across April and May and into June for a special treat.
