Our report gives feedback from parents and insight into their views on choosing food products for the children in their family when shopping, and what influences them to buy. To gather this, we partnered with Innovate Solutions who carried out an online survey, then ParentsandBrands ran an online insights panel with parents from our community on our private platform.

What You’ll Find in Our Highlights Report on Parents and Kids Food Products

To gather these insights an online quantitative survey of 21 questions was distributed via email by Innovate Solutions during October 2021 to 500 Irish female consumers across the country. The survey was active for 12 days and the total number of complete responses was 397. An in-depth insights panel with 34 mums from across Ireland was carried out on our ParentsandBrands private platform also in October 2021.

What We Asked Parents About Family Food Shopping

Here’s a peek at of some of the key questions we asked parents about family wellbeing:

  • Which of these kids’ food products do you buy regularly (at least once a month)?
  • Do you look at nutrition labelling when buying kids’ food products?
  • What would make you try a new kids food product?
  • Tell us what kids’ food products you buy regularly and why you like them?

A Selection of the Feedback from Parents on Kids Food Products:

“For me it’s convenience, cost and nutritional value. Love a snack pack that I can take out on the go with us but want them to eat something that’s going to fuel them the right way. Also don’t want to pay a fortune for it, don’t mind a little more for the convenience.”

“I want food that is good for my children. I want low salt and low sugar. I don’t want it just changed for sweeteners which are worse than real sugar. I also want to give them the odd treat here and there. Good deals and special offers on foods in the supermarket will influence my decision too.”
