Any other thoughts or comments on how you are feeling compared to this time last year? Comments from our panel members included:

“This time last year we had just returned to school after homeschooling I was exhausted and very worried, at that time I felt it was too early to be going back to work and school outside the home but I’m glad my work made me go!! This past fortnight we have been recovering from COVID and were not too bad so we went to an indoor play centre, the zoo and a birthday party. Next week junior sports training resumes and school tours and summer camps are being talked about….woohoo.”

“We are doing more than we were last year. We are more active outdoors than ever before. Still worry in crowded spaces but loving the freedom we have and more aware of how lucky we are.”

“We actually currently have COVID after avoiding it all this time. So it feels very like last year trapped in the house. However I think knowing we won’t be forever helps as last year we didn’t know what was going to happen. Some sense of freedom is important. I do wish masks would come back though for inside locations.”

“Still feeling a bit funny about getting back to full socialising and activities tbh. We just had COVID which wasn’t very nice and I’ve heard about people getting COVID again so nervous about that too.”

“I’m feeling more hopeful compared to this time last year. I’m still cautious as COVID numbers are really high so am continuing to wear a mask in shops and public places. I’m well used to it at this stage so it’s not a hindrance or a problem.”

“We are more positive than this time last year even though COVID seems to be everywhere. I really feel we need to learn to live with it and continue to move away from restrictions if we are ever going to get back to a more normal life.”

“Feeling more optimistic. Focusing on making great memories this summer and spending time with family and friends.”

Reflections for Parent and Family Brands and Venues:

  • Parents are telling us that they’re much less anxious than this time last year but are still cautious with regards to COVID safety and their families. It’s a good idea to keep highlighting what health and safety measures your business is taking to help alleviate stress.
  • Outdoor activities are still the number one go-to for families looking to spend time together, and this will likely increase as we head into spring and summer.
  • Parents are loving the freedom that has come with the easing of COVID restrictions and are keen to reconnect with loved ones they haven’t been able to meet up with for some time. Parents and their families are on the look out for new and exciting ways to get together.
